Frequently Asked Questions

Ordering

Do you ship year-round?

We do our best to ship year-round, however we may hold orders during extreme weather conditions (above 90°F or below 40°F) to protect your plants in transit. If a hold is necessary, we will contact you directly.

When do orders ship?

All orders are packaged on Sunday and ship out Monday morning. This schedule ensures your plants spend the least amount of time in transit and avoid sitting in a carrier facility over the weekend.

If Monday falls on a federal holiday, you will have two options:

  • Hold until the following Monday — your order ships on the next regular Monday at no additional cost.
  • Ship Wednesday — your order ships mid-week, however please be aware that standard 3–5 day transit times may extend over a weekend, which can increase the time your plant spends in transit.

We will contact you in advance of any holiday to confirm your preference.

Do you offer weather protection add-ons?

Yes! When temperatures are expected to fall below 50°F during transit, we offer a Weather Protection Bundle available for purchase at checkout in two sizes:

  • Standard Bundle – $6.00 — One 72-hour heat pack and insulation liner. Suitable for most orders.
  • Large Package Bundle – $8.00 — Two 72-hour heat packs and insulation liner. Recommended for larger or multi-plant orders.

Adding a Weather Protection Bundle is required to qualify for our Live Arrival Guarantee during cold weather conditions.

Can I cancel or modify my order?

Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to make changes. Once an order has been packed and shipped, we are unable to make modifications or cancellations.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time we ship within the United States only. Certain states may have agricultural restrictions — please review our Shipping Info page for details.

Shipping & Live Arrival Guarantee

Do you guarantee live arrival?

Yes — we stand behind every plant we ship. Our Live Arrival Guarantee applies when the following conditions are met:

  • The customer has reviewed local weather forecasts prior to purchase and determined conditions are safe for shipping.
  • A Weather Protection Bundle (Standard or Large Package) has been purchased when temperatures at the origin or destination are expected to fall below 50°F during transit.
  • Damage is reported with photo or video evidence within 24 hours of delivery.
  • The package was not left unattended for an extended period after delivery.

Claims that do not meet these conditions may not be eligible for replacement or store credit. We want every plant to thrive — working together on weather preparedness gives your order the best chance of arriving happy and healthy.

How are my plants packaged?

Each plant is carefully packaged on Sunday and ships Monday morning to minimize time in transit. We use appropriate cushioning and, when needed, heat packs to help maintain safe temperatures during cold weather. For added protection, our Weather Protection Bundle (Standard at $6 or Large Package at $8) is available as an add-on at checkout.

What if my plant arrives damaged?

Please inspect your order immediately upon arrival. If your plant has sustained significant damage, send us a photo or video within 24 hours of delivery and we will evaluate your claim. Minor cosmetic issues such as leaf yellowing or small tears are normal shipping stress and are not eligible for refunds.

How long will shipping take?

Standard shipping via USPS takes approximately 3–5 business days. Priority shipping (1–2 days) is also available at checkout. Please note that USPS transit times are estimates and not guaranteed. Orders shipped on Wednesday due to a Monday holiday may experience extended transit times over the weekend.

General

Are your plants grown from seed or propagation?

All plants sold at Crooked Finger Farm are home-grown propagations or Anthurium hybrids created right here in our licensed basement nursery. Every plant has been grown and cared for by hand.

Do your plants contain beneficial insects?

Yes! We use beneficial insects as part of our integrated pest management approach. Your plant may arrive with live beneficials — this is intentional and a good thing! They help keep pest populations in check naturally without the use of chemicals.

Will my soil contain springtails?

Quite possibly! Our soil often contains springtails, which are harmless micro-decomposers that help break down organic matter and keep the root zone healthy. They are not pests — many plant collectors actually seek them out. If you see tiny white bugs jumping around in the soil, that's them! 🌿

How do I contact you?

You can reach us via our Contact page. We do our best to respond within 1–2 business days.
